SkinPen® Microneedling

Reveal your skin’s natural radiance with SkinPen® Microneedling – a clinically proven collagen induction therapy designed to rejuvenate, repair, and restore your skin’s natural integrity.

Skin Therapist Michaela prepares a patient for a SkinPen® microneedling treatment.

SkinPen® Precision is a world-renowned medical grade microneedling system for skin resurfacing.

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a treatment that uses fine needles to cause micro-tears in the skin. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response, promote skin growth factors and renew the skin. As your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect.

SkinPen® microneedling helps to improve skin conditions such as acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, skin pigmentation, and surgical scars. SkinPen® can be used on any areas of the face or body. With its CE mark and ISO certification, the SkinPen® Precision device is approved worldwide, ensuring its safety during use.

Treatment Cost €250 per treatment

Minimum course of 3 treatments at 4-week intervals required.

FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

How does SkinPen® microneedling work?
SkinPen® Precision is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device.
This treatment technique involves creating precision micro-wounds that activate the body’s natural healing process. By reducing cellular damage, scar tissue is effectively remodelled while preserving the skin’s overall structure. In the wound healing process, the body goes through three distinct stages:

  1. Inflammation/injury, tissue proliferation, and remodelling. During the inflammatory phase, the body’s natural response to injury begins, marked by redness, warmth, swelling, and pain at the wound site.
  2. Proliferation is the phase in which new tissue is generated to repair the wound as cells multiply and cover the wound area. Finally, tissue remodelling occurs, which involves the reorganization and realignment of collagen fibres as the wound matures and strengthens.
  3. Throughout each phase, it is essential to avoid unnecessary inflammation, as it can impede the proper healing process, and to create an environment that promotes optimal skin remodelling. This includes providing the body with the necessary nutrients, keeping the wound clean, and preventing infection to promote efficient and effective healing.

Why is collagen so important in skin rejuvenation?
  • Collagen and elastin are the essential protein fibres or building blocks in the skin that provide it with support and elasticity.
  • As we age, these fibres break down, resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and enlarged pores.
  • Regenerating collagen and elastin with the aid of SkinPen® microneedling can help achieve an overall more youthful appearance.
  • Collagen plays a key role in scarring, such as those caused by acne. Microneedling causes the collagen fibres to reconstruct.
  • Inadequate pigmentation signals can also lead to dyschromias such as melasma, vitiligo, and solar lentigines.
What to expect during your SkinPen® treatment?
  1. Your skin is cleansed and disinfected.
  2. Topical anaesthesia placed on the skin for 20 minutes to ensure a comfortable treatment.
  3. SkinPen® Precision creates thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin to trigger your body’s natural wound healing cascade. This healing process works at the treatment site to remodel the tissue, resulting in new collagen and elastin, giving your skin a firmer, more radiant, and younger appearance.
  4. LIFT hydrogel is applied to the treatment area to help reduce friction and facilitate glide and comfort.
  5. Skin Therapist Michaela will provide you with a homecare kit to use for a period post treatment.
Who is unsuitable for SkinPen® microneedling?
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have an active skin infection, coldsore, cystic acne etc.
  • Anyone with sunburnt skin.
  • If you are wearing fake tan.
  • You are taking steroids or antibiotics.
What to expect post SkinPen® microneedling?

Immediately post treatment your skin will appear red and slightly inflammed. This is the bodys’ natural wound healing response. Many patients are deterred from microneedling treatments due to a fear of long downtime and healing periods. This is certainly not the case with SkinPen®. Expect redness on the day of treatment and in some rare cases minimal redness the following day. It is essential however to not place anything on the skin for 24 hours post treatment except the SkinPen® gels supplied to you. This is to reduce the risk of infection.

How many treatments do I require?

In line with SkinPen® official protocol it is suggested to have a minimum of 3 treatments, each one month apart. In some cases of severe ageing, acne scars or stretch marks, 4-6 treatments may be suggested.
